Design Assistant

We are looking for a creative and outgoing Design Assistant to join our showroom team. The successful candidate will be a person who has a flair for design and exceptional Customer Service skills. They will have some experience or education in interior design and understand how a retail environment functions. Using their proven skills in customer service they will work with customers, designers and IFC project managers to determine customer needs, help select products, procure samples from our showroom and through our manufacturing partners that fit the budget of the end user. The candidate will also ensure that our newly renovated showroom is kept up to date with products that reflect the latest styles and that they are displayed appropriately. Product training will be provided in order to facilitate a smooth transition into the company. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Island Floor Centre is the largest floor covering and tile store on Vancouver Island, offering our customers access to thousands of products from the highest-quality brands from around the world. We provide commercial and residential flooring sales and installation all over the Island and have been in business for over 35 years. With a recently renovated showroom and offices as well as a designer studio workspace, we have created a dynamic environment for both designers and retail customers.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide elevated service to customers in a high-end showroom
• Help customers make product selections that meet their unique needs
• Educate customers about products available
• Facilitate customer interaction with project managers
• Collaborate with customers, interior designers, contractors and suppliers
• Work with manufacturers and distribution partners to ensure that their product samples and displays are current and displayed professionally
• Assist designers and end users with information and sampling

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• 2 to 5 years in a customer service environment with emphasis on an exceptional customer experience and meeting customer’s needs.
• Interior Design education and/or experience an asset
• Experience within a design firm or high-end furniture or home décor retailer or related field

PREFERRED SKILLS
• Positive, outgoing and professional
• Prior experience with a flooring company an asset but not required
• Intermediate computer skills required

• Island Floors will provide product training
• Position involves working some weekends

Junior Tile Installer

We are looking for a novice tile installer to join our installation team to start immediately. This position is full time. Experience is an asset, but not required.

Experienced Hardwood Installer

We are looking for an a hardwood installer to with 5-10 years of experience to join our team. This is a full time position with a competitive salary and benefits.

Accounts Payable

We are looking for a full cycle Accounts Payable person. Training will be provided by CPA, CGA certified staff in order to facilitate a smooth transition into the company. This is a full time position with a competitive salary and benefits.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create and maintain vendor master files on the computer
• Matching invoices to packing slips
• Coding and entering invoices into our industry specific computer system
• Reconciling vendor accounts
• Processing payments either electronically or by cheque

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•  3 years prior Accounts Payable experience
• Prior experience with a flooring or construction company, an asset but not required.
